Tim Boyle has served as chief executive officer of Columbia Sportswear Company since 1988 and reassumed the role of president in 2017, which he had previously held until 2015. He oversees operations of the active outdoor company from its Portland, Oregon, headquarters.
Boyle's career with Columbia Sportswear began in 1971 when, during his senior year at the University of Oregon, his father, who had been running the company since 1964, died suddenly of a heart attack. Boyle's mother, Gert Boyle, quickly enlisted his help in order to continue the aggressive expansion that her husband had initiated and that had expanded the company's sales that year to $1 million.
An alumnus of the Portland, Oregon, Jesuit High School (1967) and the University of Oregon (1971, BS in Journalism), Boyle serves on the boards of directors of Northwest Natural Gas Company and Craft Brew Alliance Inc.
John Evans von Schlegell is cofounder and chairman of Endeavour Capital, a private equity firm investing in western companies and management teams. With offices in Portland, Seattle, Denver, and Los Angeles, Endeavour has grown into one of the leading lower-middle market firms in the United States and the largest of its kind based in the Northwest. He is currently a director for several of Endeavour Capital’s portfolio companies.
Prior to cofounding Endeavour Capital, Evans von Schlegell was one of five general partners at GTCR, a private equity firm in Chicago. He was formerly undersecretary of Human Services in Massachusetts and worked in manufacturing at Caterpillar Tractor.
Evans von Schlegell is a graduate of Stanford University and has an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. He also has served on several nonprofit boards, including The Nature Conservancy, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Classic Wines Auction, and the Oregon State Board of Higher Education.
